Following in the world-known collaboration between athlete David Beckham and the Swedish fast-fashion chain, the giant H&M has announced an upcoming collaboration with The Weeknd for their Spring 2017 campaign. The Toronto native, twice Grammy Awards winner and listed on Spotify’s list of most-ever streamed artists will be participating in the brand’s Selected By series and will be selecting what H&M is calling Spring Icons. The Weeknd will handpick pieces which will then be featured in the Spring 2017 collection.
Abel Tesfaye (his real name) announced the news to his fans on his Instagram “excited to announce that I’m starring in the @HM and XO campaign launching March 2017 #HMSPRINGICONS,” he wrote along with a picture that features a black XO bomber jacket. As that is also the name of the personal his clothing label, record label, and is incorporated into his impending project with Puma that is also set to release in 2017, it’s likely to be used as a motif in the range. The singer recently announced a series of pop-up shops to coincide with the release of his upcoming Starboy album on November 25.
Both the Puma and H&M partnerships will no doubt be expansions on offerings that the musician will have as tour merchandise on the just announced Legend of the Fall World Tour. The tour itself features special guests like Bryson Tiller and Lil Uzi Vert.
“The only thing H&M can reveal at this point is that the line will feature key items for Spring that The Weeknd has handpicked” the company reported, keeping everyone guessing the details of the awaited collaboration.
The collection will launch the 2nd March, 2017
