Western Australia, what a special place it is. Whether you go there for the surf, the food scene, the climate or the astounding landscapes and world-famous sunsets, there’s truly something for everyone. Among the luxury sector, though, Western Australian is especially synonymous with one thing: fine wine. It’s a corner of the country with a serious pedigree in viticulture; Swan Valley just outside of Perth has been growing grapevines for 180 years, and it’s the spiritual home of Australia’s booming luxury wine industry.

However, the real buzz in recent years has centred around Margaret River. Why? This wine region doesn’t just boast 150 wineries (many of which are considered among the best in the country), but also some amazing art galleries selling pieces to add to your collection, live music venues in which to catch up and coming stars, and fine dining restaurants showcasing the top talent and ingredients of the region. Here are five unmissable stops on your luxury Margaret River wine tour.

Si Vintners

Iwo Jakimowicz and Sarah Morris are two vintners who are bang on trend, and clearly have the luxury market in their sights. Heritage vines, organic and biodynamic farming practices, and one of the prettiest tasting rooms in the region come together at this winery for a really sensational wine experience. With thirty acres dripping with style and sophistication, this is a winery that will stay with you long after you leave.

Ashbrook Estate

This isn’t one of the more luxurious wineries in the region – indeed, it’s fairly unassuming from the outside – but their Riesling wines are packed full of the finesse and decadence of Old World Europe, and belong in pride of place in every wine lover’s Aussie collection.

Brookland Valley

If you like a bit of mysticism and old fashioned decadence in your wineries, then be sure to stop at Brookland Valley. Statues of the Greek god Pan litter the vineyards, and the beautiful estate will steal your heart as you wander from building to building. The Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Chardonnay made here are definitely worth picking up, and the food served has won several accolades, too.

Deep Woods Estate

Widely regarded as one of the most photogenic wineries in Margaret River, this estate is one to pack your camera for. The sparkling sea views bring a truly relaxing vibe to proceedings, and the natural bushland and spectacular dam make perfect backdrops for your selfies. This winery specialises in unique Australian blends, such as Cabernet Shiraz and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, meaning there’s always something fascinating to taste and take home.

Margaret River House and Spa Retreat

After a long day sipping at Western Australia’s finest wines, you’ll be in need of some pampering. Thank goodness, then, for Margaret River House and Spa Retreat. The large, outdoor therapeutic spa will soothe your muscles and aching feet, while the sunny rooms.
