Earlier this year MAC Cosmetics partnered up with the Empire star Taraji P. Henson for a limited-edition capsule collection which included a nude “deep tone beige” with a matte finish lipstick, a mascara, liquid eyeliner, brush and two pressed powders for highlighting and contouring. Of course the collection sold out in the wink of an eye, so Taraji P. Henson and MAC decided to take it a step further and this time do it for a great cause.
Along with actor Jussie Smollet, the duo will be the new faces of the famous MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam campaign. MAC Viva Glam is known for donating 100 percent of the proceeds from any purchase of the line to the MAC AIDS Fund. Since 1994 the organisation has addressed the important issue of poverty and its connection with HIV/AIDS, the fund support several international innovative groups that “deal directly with the most marginalised, stigmatised and under-heard victims” and provides services to those affected.
Henson and Smollet are only the latest celebrities to front the significative campaign, in the past, stars like Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande have represented the Viva Glam line, as a matter of fact, Ariana Grande’s line is still available online. As stated by MAC, “VIVA GLAM spokespeople are provocative, alternative and influential and reflect diverse communities. They are heroes we look up to for their personal triumphs; people who have invented themselves and people who created movements.”
The preview doesn’t give a lot away, however, we can expect vibrant tones given the strong berry hue of the lipstick and sparkly lipgloss, definitely some gorgeous magentas will be somewhere in the line, and we can’t wait to see what Jussie Smollet brings to this unique collaboration.
