Chinese investors are back seeking trophy vineyard properties in the NSW Hunter Valley, but are being out-muscled by quicker-acting local buyers. Supermodel Miranda Kerr will need to find a new rental for her next Hunter Valley visit after the Pokolbin trophy estate she stayed at last Christmas has been sold for $6 million. Owned by former Macquarie director Robin Crawford and his wife Judy, Loggerheads has long been regarded as one of the wine region’s most significant holdings and includes a seven-bedroom homestead designed by architect Michael Suttor and a Paul Bangay-designed garden with a summer house, swimming pool and orchard. The remaining penthouse in the Opera Residences development at Circular Quay sold on Saturday to a local buyer for $27 million, heading up the project’s sell-out success on the day. The 104 apartments on offer in the luxury development on the site of the old Coca Cola Amatil building totalled $500 million worth of real estate sales this week.
