Luxury vehicles are about so much more than speed and performance. While being able to go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds is certainly part of the fun of owning a high-end sports car, it is only part of the picture when it comes to the world of true opulence in motoring. The benefits of being the owner of a real luxury vehicle also go far beyond the appearance of the car, too. Leather interiors and sleek exteriors come as standard nowadays – the real difference comes in the high tech features that many new luxury cars are started to display. The joy is in the detail, and these are some of the best new technological features available on the luxury car market.

In-Car Massages

This is what we’re talking about. With driver and passenger seats which give you a soothing massage while you’re on your way to the office, there’s no need to take time out to visit your masseur. How does it work? The seats have up to ten intelligent air pockets which inflate and deflate while you’re on the move, working your tired muscles and providing sweet sensations throughout your commute.

A New Kind of Warmth

Is there anything better on a cold winter’s day than a warm, woollen scarf around your neck? Well, yes there is – the AirScarf feature which is being showcased by the Mercedes SL and SLK, which gives you the sensation of a delightfully toasty scarf whenever you’re driving, and it’s said to keep your whole body wonderfully warm in ways normal car heaters never can. The carefully designed headrests in the front seats of the car offer heat around the head and neck of the drive and front passenger, and they even work when the top’s down.

Autopilot Features

This has really been the big technological news in the motoring world for some time now – it really won’t be long before most new cars come with some sort of self-driving feature; something which will change driving forever. In the meantime, top-end luxury cars (most famously Tesla vehicles) are starting to introduce autonomous features and autopilots which use traffic-aware technology to keep the car in the middle of the road, and which manage the vehicle’s speed. Even at speeds of up to 130 mph, the BMW 7 Series’ Active Driving Assistant Plus will help the driver stay in the centre of their lane, helping avoid problems such as blind spots. It seems the future is well and truly here.

Hands-free Cleaning

We haven’t quite reached the utopian idea of the self-washing car, but we’re certainly on the right track. 2016 Ford models have started to introduce self-cleaning cameras, a feature designed to avoid accidents caused by camera neglect.
