Founders Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy describe Dinosaur Designs’ aesthetic as a philosophy of colour and form. Created in a studio in Strawberry Hills, Sydney, their handcrafted jewellery is defined by one material in particular – “working with resin is like working with paint,” they explain. The Australian brand has now partnered with Net-A-Porter just in time for Christmas. A 14 piece collection of the brand’s jewellery is available to shop on Net-A-Porter from this month.
“We’ve had a relationship with the Net-A-Porter Group for a little while; our bangles were featured in Porter magazine a few years ago. Gabriele Hackworthy, fashion director at Porter magazine has been a friend of ours for many years now. I was featured in Porter magazine about a year ago. Earlier on in the year we met with Lisa Aiken, retail fashion director of Net-A-Porter, during MBFWA. It was so wonderful to meet Lisa and show her our studio and how Stephen and I work designing a collection and how handmade all our pieces are.” explained the brand’s creative director Louise Olsen and Co-founder along with Stephen Ormandy, both, the creative masterminds behind the brand’s distinctively handcrafted objects.
Dinosaur Designs who recently celebrated their 30 years in the industry has had a store in New York for 14 years now and London for two years and they have been wholesaling around the world in very selected department stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Harvey Nichols in London, boutiques such as Paul Smith and a number of galleries, so going into a digital and global market like Net-a-Porter seems the natural and correct step into further expansion.
