Autralian company finds the Biggest Diamond of the Century

A marvelous Lulo White diamond was mined by an Aussie company Lucapa Diamond in the West African state of Angola. The diamond is the biggest legal gem to be ever mined from the mines of Angola and certainly the biggest ever to be mined by a local company. The discovery of the stone was announced on 15th February 2015 and what an amazing thing they have unearthed! The 404.2 carat rough cut diamond was eventually sold to the highest bidder at $22 million or a record $56,000. The English Royalty is famous for its possession of two of the most famous diamonds in the world; The Kohinoor and the Cullinan diamonds. The latter’s bits are the part of the British crown jewels and estimated to be worth an insane 2 billion dollars! Reckon they got another toy to play with?

The Aussie CEO Stephen Wetherall pocketed a few million dollars himself as part of the deal. He believes that the diamond business is still going strong despite the excessive amount of mining going on that has started a negative trend in the gems industry. Of course striking gold with a diamond that size will tip the scales in your favor but seeing the stagnation of prices and excessive mining will only push the prices lower. He is also bent on finding out the prime source of the diamonds in these incredible alluvial plains that he is working on. Now that would be some cracking stuff!

So if you had a jewel this absurdly large, what sort of jewelry would look best with it? We are thinking a tiara, you know, for a casual night out.
